D5909 was the only class 23 'Baby Deltic' to receive blue livery, which it did in 1968 at Doncaster Works. The locomotive is seen following withdrawal at Stratford on the 31st December 1972. It remained at Stratford until June 1973 when it was moved to G. Cohen's scrap yard at Kettering and scraped by October of the same year.
