On the day of its withdrawal, 24th December 1981, 55010 (D9010) "THE KING'S OWN SCOTTISH BORDERER" was hauled by classmate 55019 (D9019) "ROYAL HIGHLAND FUSILIER" from Doncaster TMD to Doncaster Works for scrapping. 55010's final journey is almost complete as 55019, itself suffering from engine faults, propels it towards the works past Doncaster station. 55010 had failed with the 1L22 23:00 King's Cross - Bradford service on the previous night, at Corby Glen, and had to be pushed by 47458 on 1S77 to Grantham where 37137 came on to assist 55010 to Doncaster. 55010 was broken up at Doncaster during May 1982.
