...55012 (D9012) "CREPELLO" works its penultimate service out of Montrose on the 13th May 1981. The locomotive is seen departing with the 1G64 12:40 Aberdeen - Edinburgh, and would later power the 1E39 22:55 Edinburgh - King's Cross. On arrival at Finsbury Park the following morning it was taken out of service for a 'C' examination, however, with a classified repair pending at Doncaster no further repairs were sanctioned and No.12 was condemned four days later and officially withdrawn from service on the 31st of the month. 55012 was the third Deltic casualty of the year and the sixth withdrawal altogether - four of which had been the classic racehorses of Finsbury Park.
