55012 (D9012) "CREPELLO" stands in the southbound bay platform at Doncaster on Friday 24th April 1981. The locomotive had been released from Doncaster Works that evening and was awaiting a move south, which came in the form of 5A28 Doncaster - King's Cross, after 37016 had brought in the late running 1A28 16:30 Hull - King's Cross with failed 47152 in tow. The 1A28 was cancelled and passengers were transferred to the following 1A31 18:10 York - King's Cross service. 55012 had entered Doncaster Works on the 13th April for a replacement No.1 power unit and was within one month of withdrawal from service - when stopped at Finsbury Park on the 14th May for a 'C' exam the decision was made to withdraw and the locomotive was condemned on the 18th May 1981 and cut up at Doncaster during September.
