The catalogue of farewell railtours during the latter half of
1981 included the Deltic Preservation Society's "The Deltic
Salute" tour on October 24th. This was in fact the DPS's
final mainline tour whilst the locomotives were still in BR
service.
Here 55015 (D9015) "TULYAR" stands at York
prior to the 09:30 departure...

...55015 had been reunited with white window surrounds for "The Wessex Deltic" railtour on the 17th October, two weeks earlier, and retained them until the 29th October when York once again painted them over in blue...

...The 1F50 "The Deltic Salute" ran from York to Aberdeen and return and is seen waiting departure from York complete with ceremonial wreath...

Although 55015 lost the white window surrounds five days later
they were re-applied for the "Deltic Scotsman Farewell"
railtour, which she hauled from King's Cross to Edinburgh, on the
2nd January 1982...
