Having arrived Doncaster Works on the 29th January 1979 for its final Intermediate overhaul 55015 (D9015) "TULYAR" is seen stripped of all major components, including fuel tanks and resting on accommodation bogies at the north end of Doncaster Works (possibly outside the former asbestos shop) on Sunday 25th February 1979. The locomotive is seen in a state of some disrepair due to the length of time the loco had been in service without a classified repair, its previous overhaul was in October 1975. It had undergone a lengthy period between overhauls to ascertain how long a Deltic could operate without classified repairs, however, 55015's 1979 overhaul proved too costly and the life expectancy of the whole class was shortened as a result.
