31407 and former Finsbury Park stable mate 55015 (D9015) "TULYAR" are seen together at King's Cross on the 25th August 1981.
The Deltic was waiting for a move to works having been restricted to one power unit by its former home depot of Finsbury Park.

The loco would later work the 1D08 19:40 King's Cross - Hull service in order to get it to Doncaster for a works visit as its No.1 power unit was pinned out of use.
A further failure at Peterborough would see it removed from the service and sent light to Doncaster instead.
