After failing with the 1E43 20:35 Aberdeen - King's Cross, which it had worked forward from York (relieving 55002) 55016 (D9016) "GORDON HIGHLANDER" waits for a light engine move to Doncaster TMD for repairs on the morning of 17th December 1981. 55016 had failed at Daw Lane and had been assisted into Doncaster by 08115. The loco was later restricted to ETH only and continued to work until the 23rd December, though an exhaust fire on the 21st December did restrict the loco further!
