Following release from the stock of the 1E42 23:15 Edinburgh - King's Cross, on the morning of 17th April 1981, 55016 (D9016) "GORDON HIGHLANDER" performs the King's Cross shuffle in order to drop back into platform No.1...

...After negotiating the King's Cross throat 55016 was coupled to 47410 (most likely another arrival via an overnight service from the north). Both locomotives are seen prior to departure for Finsbury Park for servicing on the 17th April 1981 - 55016 would later work the 1L42 12:20 service to York.
