...55016 was removed from 1A08 and kept at Peterborough until the next day when it hauled 55010 (D9010) "THE KING'S OWN SCOTTISH BORDERER" (also in trouble) to Doncaster TMD. 55016's No.1 power unit (406) was pinned out and the locomotive was restricted to one unit only (418). 55016 only worked one other passenger train in BR service when on the 23rd December it worked 1D08 19:40 King's Cross - Hull, after which it was kept out of service at York and was withdrawn on the 30th December.
