It is a matter of time before the HST set on the left would replace 55017 (D9017) "THE DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY" on the 1S17 10:00 King's Cross - Edinburgh "The Flying Scotsman" service. Time is halted here, however, as 55017 hauls the service via the centre road at York on the 17th April 1978. The final loco-hauled "Flying Scotsman" left King's Cross on the 6th May 1978 and was powered by 55010 (D9010) "THE KING'S OWN SCOTTISH BORDERER".
