Work continues on the fitting of a new No.1 end nose section to 55017 (D9017) "THE DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY" inside Doncaster Works' No.4 bay (Crimpsalls erecting shop) during late March 1980. Damage was sustained at Finsbury Park on the 18th January and 55017 was finally released back into traffic on the 28th March 1980. The tail-lights and grab rails on the new nose were removed from scrapped locomotive 55001 (D9001) "ST. PADDY".
