...55017's final service train was the 1L44 16:03 King's Cross - York on the 31st December 1981. Unfortunately a broken rail caused the service to be terminated at Grantham and a wheel slip relay fault meant 55017 was unable to reach King's Cross as the 1G26 18:58 Grantham - King's Cross. 1G26 was certified a failure at Knebworth and loco and stock returned to the capital as ECS behind 47426...
