55017 (D9017) "THE DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY" entered Doncaster Works on the 3rd October 1977 for its final intermediate overhaul and is seen above having visited the dismantling shop sometime later that month. Note the locomotive rests on accommodation bogies and is bereft of all major components. On release from Doncaster the locomotive would also have changed cosmetically with the plating over of its destination blinds and the removal of such things as the sandbox filler doors and small cab quarter light windows. 55017 re-entered service on the 19th January 1978.
