55018 (D9018) "BALLYMOSS" awaits Intermediate overhaul at Doncaster Works on the 7th August 1977. The locomotive is seen ex dismantling shop and prior to a bay in the main Crimpsall erecting shops, it is seen on works bogies with all major components removed. Seen for the last time are the 'domino' style headcode blinds (albeit with smaller than average dots) and sandbox filler door apertures - these were all plated over. No.18 arrived at Doncaster for its final intermediate overhaul on the 30th June and was released on the 10th December.
