55018 (D9018) "BALLYMOSS" stands on Doncaster Works yard awaiting the start of its intermediate overhaul on 9th July 1977. The locomotive entered works on the 30th June and was finally released on the 10th December having had the following major components replaced: Power units No.1 406 replaced by 539 & No.2 430 replaced by 435, bogies No.1 9000-39 replaced by 9000-11 & No.2 9000-40 replaced by 9000-12 and boiler 5097/J3248 replaced by 1492/J2948. Note still visible is the domino headcode carried by the loco which had smaller than average dots - the route indicator panels were also plated over during its Intermediate repair.
