On the 3rd April 1980 55019 (D9019) "ROYAL HIGHLAND FUSILIER" passes Langford with a rake of Mk I stock on the 1G93 09:13 Lincoln - King’s Cross service. 55019 entered Doncaster Works seven days later for its final classified repair - a repair which, in connection with its Heavy General Repair (HGR) in 1976, would make the locomotive viable for purchase and preservation two years later by the Deltic Preservation Society.
