There is only the smallest of journey's left for 55001 (D9001) "ST. PADDY" when seen at Doncaster Works on 17th January 1980. With its withdrawal papers served it stands stripped of all re-useable parts awaiting the move to the scrapping area seen behind the locomotive to the right...

...55001 and 55020 were condemned in December 1979 and officially withdrawn in early January 1980. Here 55020 (D9020) "NIMBUS" is reduced to a memory (left) whilst 55001 bears witness to the passing of an era.
