During April and May 1963 D9001 "ST. PADDY" was employed on 1Z94 King's Cross - Doncaster and 1Z94 Doncaster - King's Cross braking trial turns with 10 coaches and dynamometer car.
The loco is seen on King's Cross Loco on the 2nd May 1963 either prior to, or following, its latest test run.
