s25 -	Released from Doncaster Works. L/E Doncaster Newton-le-Willows. To Vulcan Foundry - unrecorded classification. Details of work carried out not recorded - during this visit D9021 was loaned to the LMR and visited Longsight TMD in late March 1962. The locomotive was used in high-speed trials in connection with rail end stress between Manchester & Crewe. D9021 had no brushes fitted to the traction motors and was towed by an electric locomotive. The recorded release date from Vulcan Foundry was 02.05.62, however, the locomotive was noted on various acceptance trials from Doncaster to Peterborough during April and it is assumed the locomotive returned to Doncaster as early as 03.04.62.
