In adverse weather conditions 55021 (D9021) "ARGYLL & SUTHERLAND HIGHLANDER" suffered traction motor failure, with the 1L41 10:05 King's Cross - York service, at Huntingdon on Sunday 22nd February 1981. 25321 was summoned to help the stricken service to Peterborough, the pairing are seen here preparing for departure from Huntingdon. 55021 continued light engine from Peterborough to York where a lengthy 'B' examination followed - the locomotive seeing traffic once more on the 6th March 1981.
