On the 24th October 1981 55021 (D9021) "ARGYLL & SUTHERLAND HIGHLANDER" worked the 1Z30 08:45 King's Cross - Blackpool charter as far as Leeds where 40024 took over. 55021 then retired to Doncaster TMD but was seconded to work a long welded rail engineers train from Crofton to Gascoigne Wood at 21:23 as far as Doncaster. Following this 55021 relieved 40024 on the 1Z30 from Blackpool at Doncaster and is seen here with the charter during the wee small hours of the 25th.
