55021 (D9021) "ARGYLL & SUTHERLAND HIGHLANDER" pauses at Newcastle with the 1V93 09:50 Edinburgh - Plymouth service on the 30th October 1981. This was the final locomotive hauled 1V93 (and 1S27 return service) as from the 1st November the service became a HST diagram. The HST seen to the left is powering the 10:00 Edinburgh - King's Cross " The Flying Scotsman" service and 55021 is waiting for it to pass.
