Bensham cutting, south of Newcastle, was always the place to be for Deltic pyrotechnics. After idling in Newcastle station the two-stroke engines were always unleashed after crossing the Tyne and on the 30th April 1979 newly overhauled 55021 (D9021) "ARGYLL & SUTHERLAND HIGHLANDER" gets the 1A15 10:20 Newcastle - King's Cross service away in fine style. Two weeks later the new timetable started and the 1A15 service, once the "Newcastle Pullman", was lost to the HST 125's.
