Having earlier powered the 10:10 Newcastle - Cardiff service, as far as York, 55022 (D9000) "ROYAL SCOTS GREY" is seen at Doncaster with the 1A22 14:13 York - King's Cross working on the 14th October 1978. This '78 view of No.22 sees the locomotive still retaining the sand box filler doors on the nose end (below the hazard warning signs).
