55002 (D9002) "THE KING'S
OWN YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY" passes the now demolished south box at
Doncaster on the 14th October 1978 with the 1S21
10:55 King's Cross - Edinburgh service.
It is interesting to note that on this date Doncaster Works, the entrance to
which is beyond the signal box, held no fewer than ten members of the Deltic
fleet.
Those being: 55001/003/004/006/007/010/015/016/020 and 55021. By the 19th of the
month the number had swelled to thirteen with 55009, 55018 and 55022 joining the
ranks!
