With faults on both power units 55002 (D9002) "THE KING'S OWN
YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY" was dispatched to Doncaster Works on the 1st
May 1979.
Power unit shortages saw the loco out of service until engines became
available in early August and it was released back into traffic on the 16th
of the month.
Here the loco awaits attention on Sunday 17th June 1979. Whilst on works the
loco's allocation to Gateshead, which it had been its home since new in
1961, changed to York following the classes move to more mundane ECML
duties.
