...55002 is seen again at Stockport. Deltics were no strangers to Stockport having worked there frequently on the York - Aberystwyth parcels trains since 1978, the locomotive being removed at Stockport in order to work back with the Shrewsbury - York parcels...

...The driver of EMU 304 028 appears almost shocked to see 55002 (D9002)  "THE KING'S OWN YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY" parked next to him, and for good reason. Complete strangers to Crewe this photo of 55002, taken 5th June 1981, is extremely rare. 55002 was en route to Crewe Works for the forthcoming works open day and it was only the second appearance of a Deltic to the Cheshire town during the Deltic fleet's BR service, the first occurring on the 18th January 1980 when 55014 (D9014) "THE DUKE OF WELLINGTON'S REGIMENT" was employed to move 47305 from York and 40147 from Healey Mills to works.
