A resplendent D9003 "MELD" awaits the departure of the 1A46 16:00 King's Cross - Edinburgh "The Talisman" at King's Cross during 1962. A Britannia class, thought to be 70038 "ROBIN HOOD" is also seen and is possibly ready to depart after the Deltic with the afternoon service to Cleethorpes. This photo may well be dated 18th June 1962, a day of Deltic celebration on the East Coast Main Line, as the new accelerated 'Deltic' timetable commenced, however, as yet there is no report as to what locomotive worked 1A46 on this historic date - D9003 did, however, power this service on the 19th June 1962.
