On the morning of Sunday 21st September 1980 55003 (D9003) "MELD" rests at the stops at King's Cross after arrival with the 1E35 20:45 Edinburgh - King's Cross (which it had worked via Knottingley & Lincoln). 55014 (D9014) "THE DUKE OF WELLINGTONS REGIMENT" has also arrived with an overnight service from Edinburgh. 55003 would retire to home depot Finsbury Park and remain there for the following month awaiting materials for repairs to N450 blower and radiator fan.
