Finsbury Park based 55003 (D9003) "MELD" backs
down onto its next service, the 1D02 12:05 to Hull, at London King's
Cross on the 22nd March 1980. 55003 was the first of the 'Racehorse'
Deltics to receive the white window surrounds, these being
applied during April 1979, and was the only Deltic so adorned to
visit the King's Cross stabling point known as King's Cross Loco.
Racehorse named 55007, 55009, 55012, 55015 and 55018 also
received the white windows, however, the small maintenance shed
and fuelling point (seen here in the background) closed in May
1979 before they were so treated.
