On the 27th March 1978 55004 (D9004) "QUEEN'S OWN HIGHLANDER"
departs Waverley with the 1E26 17:00 Edinburgh - King's Cross service.
Within a few days 55004 would suffer engine failure and would see little use
in April before being sent to works exactly one month later on the 27th
April.
Power unit shortages would see 55004 remain out of service until December
1979 and, given the climate for the class at that time, was probably lucky
to be repaired.
