Although this move for 55005 (D9005) "THE PRINCE OF WALES'S OWN REGIMENT OF YORKSHIRE" on the 1st September 1978 is unknown there is plenty to surmise within the scene. The Waverley clock shows 09:10 and it is therefore likely that 55005, having arrived on an overnight train from London, has deposited the sleeping stock at Craigentinny and returned with a rake of empty coaches bound for the Highlands, as it is seen propelling the carriages into the bays on the west side of Edinburgh Waverley. A headlight fitted class 26 adds further fuel to the story, as it sits on the far left-hand lines, for this may well be waiting to drop onto the stock forming the 09:40 departure for Inverness. What is known is that 55005 would later work the 1E14 10:35 Aberdeen - King's Cross "The Aberdonian" from Edinburgh, having been serviced at Haymarket TMD, where it is likely the loco was about to retire to in the above scene.
