55005 (D9005) "THE PRINCE OF WALES'S OWN REGIMENT OF YORKSHIRE" at Stratford locomotive works on Saturday 6th December 1980 undergoing collision damage repairs. 55005 had struck a herd of cows at Egmanton, near Newark, on the morning of 17th November whilst hauling the overnight 1E35 20:25 Edinburgh - King's Cross service and was removed at Newark and dispatched to Doncaster Works for repairs. Doncaster, however, sent the locomotive to Stratford where it arrived on November 18th and remained until 17th December. York's efforts of preparing the locomotive for the 150th anniversary of mail by rail celebratory service were still in evidence with the special style of livery, however, adverse weather during the 1980/1 winter soon erased most traces!
