Gateshead based 55005 (D9005) "THE PRINCE OF WALES'S OWN REGIMENT OF YORKSHIRE" makes the Doncaster stop with the 1S17 09:00 King's Cross - Edinburgh service on Wednesday 6th July 1978. The locomotive was suffering from an unknown defect 31143 having assisted the train into Doncaster and was awaiting the attachment of 37045 to take it forward, most likely 55005 would be removed at Newcastle for a visit to home depot Gateshead. 55005 did enter Doncaster Works six days later with an aerating No.1 power unit (404) it may well be that the faults on the 6th July were attributed to this...
