Gateshead based 55005 (D9005) "THE PRINCE OF WALES'S OWN REGIMENT OF YORKSHIRE" is seen at Doncaster with the 1S17 09:00 King's Cross - Edinburgh service on Wednesday 6th July 1978. The locomotive had failed at Newark and 31143 assisted the train into Doncaster. Here the train was awaiting the attachment of 37045 to take it forward, 55005 would be removed at Newcastle for a visit to home depot Gateshead. 55005 entered Doncaster Works six days later with an aerating No.1 power unit 404...
