1910 - Photo: Eric Dewhurst.

Following delivery and acceptance trials D9007 "PINZA" is seen at Finsbury Park on Sunday 23rd July 1961 awaiting introduction into top link duties. The 2B48 headcode suggests a period of running-in around the King's Cross Suburban area, however, from the following day D9007 would enter service on the Anglo-Scottish express services. The locomotives first recorded train was Monday 24th July 1961 when it worked the 1A16 10:00 King's Cross - Edinburgh "The Flying Scotsman" service. I am indebted to Eric Dewhurst for submitting such an historic photo to the photographic vaults of the Chronicles of Napier.
