Aided by 31221 and heading back to its home depot, York TMD, after failing in service during the previous day 55007 (D9007) "PINZA" passes Huntingdon on the 31st December 1981.
The locomotive was withdrawn upon arrival at York and was dispatched to Doncaster for scrapping on the 4th January 1982.

A sad end to this particular Deltics career as 55007 (D9007) "PINZA" is brought home for the last time by 31221 on 31st December 1981.
The pair are seen from Leeman Road footbridge at York. 55007 was withdrawn upon arrival at the depot and only one further journey remained to Doncaster for disposal.
