Having run light engine from its makers English Electric at Vulcan Foundry, Newton-le-Willows, on the 7th July D9008 is seen still awaiting entry to traffic ten days later on the 17th July. There is no official date to traffic for D9008, however, it was noted with a driver training turn from Gateshead later in the month on the 29th July. A brand new EE Type 4, later class 40, awaits entry to traffic also.
