55008 (D9008) "THE GREEN HOWARDS" waits at an extremely cold Aberdeen on the evening of 19th December 1981 with the 1G20 18:30 Aberdeen - Edinburgh service. Only ten days later 55008 would repeat its journey to Aberdeen becoming the last Deltic in BR service to visit the Scottish city - the locomotive was withdrawn on the 31st December 1981 and cut-up at Doncaster during August 1982.
