...Having spent the previous seven days out of service at York TMD, and now restricted to one power unit only, 55008 (D9008) "THE GREEN HOWARDS" traverses the depot in order to depart light engine for Finsbury Park. The locomotive was required in the capital to power the 1N00 01:00 King's Cross - Newcastle service the following morning. 55008's previous outings had been over the Pennines to Liverpool and back on two occasions on the 20th and 21st October - during the latter 55008 had failed at Liverpool and 47421 had towed it home in the consist of the 1E99 13:05 Liverpool - York service. No.8 would receive a power unit from 55004 at Stratford during early November...
