On Sunday 18th June 1978, and with platforms bursting with enthusiasts due to the open weekend at Doncaster's locomotive works (Railex 125), 55009 (D9009) ALYCIDON" hauls the 1S31 15:00 King's Cross - Edinburgh through the Doncaster centre roads. Note at this time 55009 still retained its route indicator blinds (now sporting the domino headcode) and sanding gear - the sandbox filler doors visible on the nose end adjacent to the red tail lights.
