The morning of Friday 24th April 1981 saw some slight alterations to services and late arrivals at King's Cross due to the derailment of 1E35 20:35 Edinburgh - King's Cross at Claypole during the early hours: 55009 (D9009) "ALYCIDON" started its journey south with the 1E43 20:25 ex Aberdeen from Edinburgh, this was diverted via Lincoln and No.9 came off at Peterborough. 55009 then took over the 1G00 Grantham - King's Cross service from 55019 and is seen above having finally reached the original destination - I would assume that the 1G00 was started in the path of a south-bound service which could not traverse the restricted Claypole section. Meanwhile 40006 can be seen on platform No.6.
