55009 (D9009) "ALYCIDON" accelerates past milepost 24, between Thirsk and Otterington, with the 1S76 09:40 King's Cross - Edinburgh service on the 31st August 1981. The locomotives would be restricted to one power unit from the next day (suspect fractured liner), remaining so and working only mundane services until a power unit change occurred at Doncaster Works on the 16th September.
