Super Detailing the Heljan O Gauge Deltic

21/09/15: One step forward - two steps back...

The bulkhead has a 5mm strip attached to bring it to the correct height - when tried in position it shows that the Heljan model has the nose access door directly central. This is incorrect as the driver had more area than the second man and as a result the door was slightly off-set...

The bulkhead is filed down - removing unwanted detail and the central door and architrave is replaced...

New detail is added, hopefully when painted it will look far better, the dials are reduced from six to five for a circa 1960's loco - more detail still to be added, meanwhile the checker plate (out of gauge) has been removed from the door entrances and the step for the nose access door temporarily removed. All mistakes have been made on this No.2 end cab, hopefully the No.1 end cab will be better built and therefore more visible through open windows and doors.
