Buffer beam detail: once again the existing plastic pipework is shaved off and replaced with brass wire - then painted...

The guard-irons were a tad tricky - mainly due to clearance and where to hang them. In the end I decided to locate them in the recesses above the brake shoes in the ends of the bogies. They are not a perfect representation of the prototype but certainly better than those that come with the model...

Front sand pipes are also a problem. On the actual locomotives pipework attached to the bogies would fit into hoses hanging down from the buffer beam. On this model I've attempted to fit a near representation (like the guard irons) that give an effect of those fitted whilst still giving clearance with guard irons and brake gear. The remaining pipework is that provided with the model...

The bogies are sprayed black and the brake pipes picked out in white - the speedo cable is re-attached to No.2 end bogie.
