Super Detailing the Heljan O Gauge Deltic

07/09/15: Cab it...

Following the Telford Guildex my plastic stores is replenished once more and a new cab interior can begin - there is no longer a bl**dy big hole in the cab floor...

Whilst I was at Telford I was badgering Pete Waterman to do a Deltic in his "Just Like the Real Thing" range of 'O' gauge kits - unfortunately it's highly unlikely he'll produce a production machine whilst the prototype is a possibility. To me this is a travesty because if there is one thing the 'O' gauge fraternity is deprived of it is a decent, reasonably priced Deltic kit. Therefore the next model show you attend and spot Mr. Waterman behind his stall badger him some more - I shall !!

Before I go any further I should thank Pete Stojanovic for assisting me in obtaining access to both 55002 and 55015's cabs at the weekend - this was invaluable in the research of a proper Deltic cab and many photos and measurements were taken...

The outline of the cab floor showing the cubicle, positioning of the draught-shields and the 2nd man and driver positions...

The new can takes shape - note the outline now transcribed to the models floor...

Trial fitted to the bodyshell - the draught-shields are now in place - though the cubicle doors should really have been fitted first!
