16/09/15: Detailing the cab interior...

The draught-shields are removed so as cubicle detailing can begin. Meanwhile the section of floor that falls away for the nose-end access door is cut out. This, however, reveals another section of the chassis needs to be cut away...

 

Using a little oil, whilst drilling, the chassis is opened up and then filed to accommodate the step...

The cab interior back in place to make sure enough clearance has been obtained...

The cubicle takes shape. Bits of white metal, brass wire and 4mm handrail knobs help to give the overall appearance...

Checker plate is added to the door entrances and a layer of plastic applied to the rest of the floor giving a rebate for the draught-shield to be located into - the checker plate is from a 4mm gauge range (Brassmasters) and may well be replaced for the proper 7mm alternative...

Strips of plastic applied to give rise to the driver and second-man platforms and metal edging strips added to the platforms. The draught-shield also receives another layer of plastic and a brass wire is sandwiched between - this will be the rail for the draught curtain...

The floor-well, for nose end access, is added and tried on the chassis.
