Following its collision and derailment at Thirsk, on the 31st July 1967, DP2 was stored at York TMD until early September pending its future - it is seen here at York shortly after the incident with the extent of the damage clearly seen. A decision was made to withdraw the loco and it was taken to Vulcan Foundry for scrapping on the 8th September 1967 and dismantled by October 1968.
