With its "ROYAL SCOTS GREY" nameplates ready for fitting at St. Rollox works, Glasgow, D9000 is seen between workings at Leeds Central on Sunday 20th May 1962. The locomotive was named at Edinburgh Waverley on the 18th June 1962 as part of the celebrations to commemorate the introduction of the new accelerated Deltic timetable.
