Work-worn 55016 (D9016) "GORDON HIGHLANDER" is seen alongside 55002 (D9002) "THE KING'S OWN YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY" at the Doncaster Works Deltic farewell open day on the 27th February 1982. 55002 had already been preserved as part of the national collection - happily 55016 was also preserved in 1983 by the Deltic 9000 Fund...
...Following its appearance at the Doncaster Works Deltic Farewell open day 55002 was given permission to run under its own power back to York and the NRM. Here 55002 passes Selby as 0L01 15:00 Doncaster - York.
